IC INFORMATION
Character Name: Simba
Species: Lion
Canon: The Lion King
Canon Point: A few months after living with Timon and Pumbaa
Character Age: About six months old, or around 8-10 in human years. While a little on the young side, Simba has faced quite a bit of danger in his short lifetime. He's escaped hyenas who almost turned him into a meal, survived a near-death experience with wildebeest stampeding in a gorge, and sadly witnessed his father die in front of him. He was also basically exiled and left to die in a desert, before being saved by Timon and Pumbaa.

What Did Your Character Wish For? "I wish I could see my dad again..."
What Potion Did They Receive? Red potion
Did They Drink It? Not right away, but he will once he learns what it's for.
If Yes, What Element/Animal? Earth element
Character Questions:
1. Who is the person your character is most bonded with from their canon? Or who is someone they miss the most?
To answer both questions, that is Simba's father - Mufasa. His father is everything to Simba. His best friend, his mentor, and his source of guidance. Simba looks to Mufasa to teach him about life, and be there for him when things get scary. When Simba loses Mufasa, he loses that guidance as well, and is forced to continue on lost without him. While Timon and Pumbaa take care of Simba through most of his young life, it doesn't make up for the absence of Mufasa.
2. What are they most afraid of?
Disappointing his father. Simba wants to be like his father, and even says that he wants to be brave like him when Mufasa scolds him for going to the Elephant Graveyard with Nala. He sees Mufasa as a great king - fearless and strong. And Simba wants to be like that too. He just doesn't realize that he has some growing up to do first before he gets there.
3. What is their weakness? Emotionally, mentally and physically?
Mentally, Simba can be influenced easily due to his young age. Scar is easily able to convince Simba that his father's death was his fault, and that he should exile himself from the Pridelands because of it. And then Timon and Pumbaa help him adopt the ideology of "Hakuna Matata" as a way of dealing with the grief over his father's death. He doesn't really have a complex understanding of the world yet either, as he planned to throw out rules that he doesn't like as soon as he's king without any understanding of why those rules were in place. He also doesn't understand that because he's young, he can't just go around doing whatever he wants without consequence.
Emotionally, Simba can be self-centered and confident to a fault. Prior to Mufasa's death, he behaves like a spoiled kid who does whatever he wants. He doesn't heed Scar's warnings that the Elephant Graveyard is a dangerous place, even recruiting Nala to come with him without any concern for dragging her into danger. When Zazu finds Simba and Nala in the Elephant Graveyard and urges them to leave, Simba simply tells him that he "laughs in the face of danger". Even when confronted by hyenas and clearly being in danger, Simba is dismissive of them and thinks they're not even a threat to them, even talking back to them.
Physically, Simba's a young lion cub. He has claws and can do a little bit of damage if threatened, but he's probably as strong as a house cat at his age.
4. What would make them happiest?
Seeing his dad again. Heck, just seeing his family again. Simba lost everything when his dad died. He lost his best friend, his family, and his home. He's a kid, and he wants that comfort that everything's going to be okay. He sort of gets that from Timon and Pumbaa teaching him "Hakuna Matata", but he's still left with the horrible thought that Mufasa's death was his fault and he can't go home because of it. He'd wish everything to have his family back. Or just to see his father again, at the very least.
5. What do you want out of your character in this setting?
At Simba's canon point, he's still dealing with grief over his father's death. I'd like for him to find family again, and maybe learn how to deal with that grief in a healthier way than his current way of "just ignore it". Or maybe he can just go on wacky fantasy adventures and learn to make friends along the way.

Background: Here!
Personality:
Simba behaves a lot like a spoiled prince and as a lot of young children would, he doesn't see his title of future king as a great responsibility and something that should be taken seriously. Instead he sees it as a way of being excused to do whatever he wants, whenever he wants. He often brags about the fact that he'll be the new king of Pride Rock someday, and talks about the "changes" he'll make once he's king (usually involving rules he doesn't like, such as the marriage arrangement with Nala). Sometimes he'll also use his position as prince to try and boss around others, especially if he's not getting his way.
Simba's also overconfident and arrogant, such as telling Nala that he was the one who pulled off their plan to ditch Zazu in order to get the to Elephant Graveryard. When Zazu tells them later that the Elephant Graveyard was a dangerous place and they needed to leave, Simba responds by telling him that he "laughs in the face of danger". Even confronted by the hyenas who were clearly bigger than him and willing to eat him, Simba dismisses them saying that they can't do anything to do him and proceeds to insult with them despite being outmatched.
The phrase "curiosity killed the cat" applies to Simba in spades, as places that involve danger draw Simba in like a moth to fire. His curiosity along with his need to prove himself is one of the reasons he gets into the trouble he does with the hyenas in the Elephant Graveyard. In fact, Scar relies on that curiosity for one of his earlier plans to kill off Simba, not so subtly dropping off the hint that there's an Elephant Graveyard in the first place knowing full well that morbid curiosity would get the better of Simba and led him right into danger.
Simba also has a constant need to test his bravery. And while Simba's bravery does shine through in some aspects, such as attacking a hyena to save his friend, part of it is also bravado. The truth behind all this crazy daredevil stuff is that he desperately wants to prove himself in an attempt to be just like his father, who he idolizes more than anything in the world. Some of this is shown in the scene where Simba steps in a pawprint made by his father, and seeing the size difference between his father's pawprint and his own. In that scene, Simba actually looks disappointed knowing that he has a long way to go before he fulfills the role of his father. And in the same scene where his father's scolding him, Simba tries to defend his actions protesting that "kings don't get scared" and that he wanted to be brave just like his dad.
Simba also shows that while he's childishly naive about how the world works, he's painfully trusting of others, especially when it comes to his uncle. Whatever Scar tells him, Simba blindly believes him. And that becomes very apparent when Scar lures Simba into the gorge for a "surprise" between him and his father. Scar relies on the fact that Simba will trust him enough and follows what he says long enough to set off the stampede that leads to the downfall of Mufasa. Even after Mufasa's death, Scar easily convinces Simba that the death is his fault and that he can't return to the Pride Lands. Simba takes full blame for the guilt, carrying this burden well into adulthood without ever telling anyone about it. And when he's exiled, Simba is quick to pick up Timon and Pumbaa's philosophy of living a carefree life without any responsibility, showing just how lost Simba is and how he's desperate for guidance.

Sample Entry:
[Okay, Simba could handle most of the things he's run into in Mayfield. He could handle the fact there were humans, he could handle the fact that they lived in strange-looking caves, he could even handle things like snow.
But there was one thing he wanted no part of, something terrible just a few feet away from him. He was trapped, they locked him in and now the drone woman in front of him was planning to kill him.]
Come on now, be a good kitty. It's time for your bath!
N-no! Go away, I don't need a bath!
[Simba tried hiding himself between the wall and the back of the toilet, and the drone woman was holding some kind of bottle - poison, he guessed. It was gooey and some weird color and it made the water all bubbling, it had to be some kind of poison. He didn't trust it for a minute, no doubt she was planning on murdering him with whatever was in that bottle.]
Come out, kitty. You don't want to be all dirty, do you?
I said go away!
[And when she reaches down to grab him by the scruff of the neck, he rewards her with a painful swat. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to faze her and she drags him out anyway by the back of his neck, which starts up a lot of pathetic whining from Simba as she lowers him into the bathtub.]

Simba felt lost, in a place that felt nowhere near home.
Everything was completely unfamiliar to him. Buildings that never existed in his world, paved roads, humans walking up and down the streets going about their business. If Simba didn't feel alone before, he really felt it now. When he woke up, he was told he was still asleep back home. He scoffed at that - he didn't have that kind of thing anymore.
He killed his father. He didn't deserve to have a home. Vaguely, he remembers how tired and weak he was in the desert. Should... he be worried about being left out there, while having this dream? He still felt kind of weak, his throat still dry from fleeing from hyenas.
And his dad... his dad gave up his life to save him. The images flash through Simba's mind over and over, as he keeps trying to process it. His dad leaping towards the cliff, Scar trying to help, but in the end he just couldn't keep his grip. That scream from his father as he fell is something that Simba will hear forever. And then his father, laying motionless under a broken tree.
Dead.
Dead.
Weren't they supposed to always be together? What happened to that? But it's not his dad's fault is it? He knows who it is. Everyone by now knows who it is. His mother would be ashamed - maybe even hate him. And Nala... he didn't want her to know what he did. He doesn't to know her reaction when they all hear the news of how Mufasa really died.
And now he's here, in a confusing dream filled with things he'd never normally dream. What exactly was he supposed to do here? He didn't want to do much of anything. So with feet that felt entirely too heavy, Simba continues to walk on.
Time to find out where he is.

Series:The Lion King
Timeline: A few months after Mufasa's death

Character History:
Simba is a lion cub, born to Mufasa and Sarabi, and the prince of the Pridelands. As a newborn, a ceremony was held to celebrate the new prince, in which every animal in the kingdom traveled to attend. The only exception being Mufasa's brother, Scar, angered that he lost his right to the throne the moment Simba was born.
The more Simba grows into an active and adventurous cub, the more his enthusiasm grows for his role as the future king of the Pridelands. One particular morning, he wakes up before the rest of his pride and forces his father awake as well, as his father was supposed to show him the entire kingdom. A sleepy Mufasa finally agrees as Simba excitedly runs off. From Pride Rock, Mufasa tells Simba that everything the light touches will one day be Simba's kingdom. Simba is in awe, but asks about a shadowy place out of reach from the sun. Mufasa explains it's not part of their kingdom and Simba must not go there. The lesson between father and son continues, with Mufasa telling Simba about the circle of life and how every living thing exists in a balance. The lesson is interrupted when Zazu appears and tells Mufasa that hyenas have entered the Pridelands.
After Mufasa leaves, Simba returns home and visits with Scar. He brags about one day being king, and that he was just shown the whole kingdom. Scar asks Simba if his father showed him what's beyond the northern border, and Simba sulks while telling him that Mufasa told him he can't go there. Scar admits that he's right and only the bravest lions go there, to which Simba protests that he's brave too. After badgering his uncle to tell him what's out there, his uncle "accidentally" reveals it's an elephant graveyard. Scar makes Simba promise not to go, which Simba does, but immediately rushes home to find his friend, Nala, and take her there. He tries to trick his mom by saying they're going to the watering hole, but his mother sends Zazu with them as a babysitter.
As Simba and Nala scheme about how to ditch Zazu and go to the elephant graveyard, Zazu comments on how one day they'll be married. Simba and Nala are both disgusted and shoot down the idea. Zazu says they have no choice, and Simba argues with him saying that will be the first rule to go once he's king. He then sings about how great he'll be as king and how he won't have to follow any rules or do what anyone says. The song turns out to be a distraction, and they manage to lose Zazu during their antics. Simba and Nala play wrestle for a while, with Simba trying to take credit for Nala's plan. Their playing ends up leading them right to the elephant graveyard.
As they see a giant elephant skull, Simba is eager to take a look inside and see if it still has its brains inside. Zazu catches up with them, fearfully trying to hurry them both home. Simba brushes Zazu off, saying that he isn't scared of anything and laughs in the face of danger. The trio is immediately ambushed by three hyenas, who threaten to eat them. While Simba holds his ground, thinking they're nothing but dumb hyenas, Zazu tries to disarm the situation so they can escape. While the hyenas get distracted by making jokes about their dinner, Simba and Nala make a break for it and run deeper into the graveyard while Zazu gets captured.
While fleeing, Nala slips down a pile of bones and towards the hyenas chasing them. To save her, Simba rushes past her and slashes one of the hyenas across the cheek so Nala can escape. They end up cornered, in which Simba tries his best to roar to scare the hyenas away. After his attempts fail, Mufasa comes to the rescue and chases them away.
Zazu takes Nala home, but an infuriated Mufasa takes Simba aside to scold him for disobeying. Simba tearfully pleads that he just wanted to be brave like his dad, and Mufasa tells him that bravery doesn't mean looking for trouble. After Simba protests that he's not scared of anything, Mufasa tells him that he was scared of losing him. The two of them make up, playfully wrestling with each other before Simba asks his dad if they'll always be together. Mufasa doesn't answer, but looks up at the sky and explains that the stars represent the kings of the past, and that they'll always be there to guide Simba, and so will he.
The following day, Scar takes Simba into the gorge because his father supposedly has a surprise for him. Simba tries to get Scar to tell him what the surprise is, but Scar tells him to stay put and work on his little roar. As Scar leaves to put his plan of getting rid of Mufasa and Simba into place, an insulted Simba practices roaring at a lizard for a while. He's pleased when he finally manages a decent roar, but at the same time the ground starts shaking. When he looks up, he sees a stampede of wildebeest heading towards him. Unknown to Simba, the stampede is started by the three hyenas who tried to eat him, Nala, and Zazu the day before, and they're carrying out a plot by Scar to kill off Mufasa and Simba so that he can inherit the throne.
A terrified Simba tries to run, but the herd is too fast for him. He climbs up a tree to avoid being trampled, just as Mufasa and Scar arrive to save him. Mufasa plunges into the herd of wildebeest, right as the branch Simba is clinging to breaks. Mufasa saves Simba, carrying him to a ledge and dropping him right before the herd knocks Mufasa right back into the path of the stampede. A frightened and worried Simba keeps watching the stampede for his father, and much to his relief sees him leap onto the side of a cliff. As Mufasa tries to climb up, he pleads to Scar to help him. Scar grabs his paws, and with a final "long live the king", he flings him off the cliff's edge and to his death as Simba screams.
Simba rushes down into the gorge after the wildebeest leave, and finds an unmoving Mufasa. He pleads with his dad to get up and come home with him, but after several attempts, he realizes Mufasa is dead. He starts to cry while huddling next to him. Scar interrupts Simba's moment of grief, asking him what he's done. Simba desperately tries to defend himself, saying it was an accident and he didn't mean for his father to die. Scar comforts him, before telling him that Mufasa would still be alive if it weren't for him. When Simba asks what he should do, Scar tells him to leave and never return. A devastated Simba runs, chased by the Scar's hyenas who plan to finish him off. Simba escapes by falling into bramble and running off into the desert before the hyenas can catch him.
Simba eventually collapses from exhaustion and dehydration, but is rescued by Timon and Pumbaa, a meerkat and warthog duo. They give him water and Simba thanks them before trying to walk off into the desert again. They ask him where he's from and what he did to end up as an outcast, before Simba responds with "something terrible" and leaving it at that. Timon and Pumbaa then introduce Simba to their motto of "Hakuna Matata", in which Simba can leave his guilty past behind and live a carefree lifestyle with no rules or worries. With nowhere to go and no one else to turn to, Simba decides to live out his life with his new friends, burying away the guilt and grief for his father's death and throwing away his dreams of becoming king.
Abilities/Special Powers: Other than being able to talk, Simba is a normal lion cub.
Third-Person Sample:
Even though it's been weeks since Simba started living with Timon and Pumbaa, he still thought about his dad.
He didn't want to, and he's tried everything not to, but it still sometimes happened. No matter how much fun he was having with his new friends, it'd always creep up on him when he least expected. It was unfair, how often it happened. How he'd be slurping down a slimy bug, and he'd suddenly think about his father telling him that a king shouldn't be so loud and messy when eating. How he'd look at the stars with Timon and Pumbaa, and turn his head suddenly because he swore he could feel his father laying right next to him.
But the worst part was the dreams. His father always seemed to be in his dreams, and a lot of them were unhappy ones. Dreams of watching his father desperately trying to climb up a cliff, begging Simba to help him as he helplessly watches him fall. There were nicer dreams too, where he and his father would be playing under a night sky, and then he'd wake up expecting his father to be right there with him. Those dreams, he thinks, are worse. They trick him, make him believe that he didn't kill his father and that he was still home with him.
It was always hard to tell these feelings to Timon and Pumbaa, who seemed so happy and carefree all the time. It wasn't that they never listened, it was that Simba could never work up the courage to tell them. If he did, that carefree, happy life that Timon and Pumbaa promised him would be shattered forever. Simba doesn't want that, he just... wants it to be as easy as Timon and Pumbaa makes it seem.
At least for now, he had them. Maybe they couldn't make the dreams of his father go away, but at least he knew that they were always there for him. And that made it a little easier.
First-Person Sample:
What is this thing?
[Simba's just recently discovered his phone - or a phone, at least. But everything from the stairs, the carpeting, to even this tiny digital device is unfamiliar to this little lion cub. He's batted it around, partially for fun and partially to see if it'll do anything else. After all, he can sometimes hear voices coming from it.]
It's like a weird-looking rock, but it talks? Hello? Heeeelloooooo?
[If it doesn't get an answer right away, he does the only logical thing he can think of: picking it up in his mouth and biting it.]
Say! Something! Already!
